Service & warranty issues

Owner-reported

Not official NHTSA recalls: known problems reported by owners and addressed via service bulletins or warranty. Verify your truck's status with Tesla.

Service issueDefect acknowledged · warranty extended Aug 2026
Power Conversion System (PCS) failure disables home/AC charging

A failing PCS (the onboard charger + DC-DC converter) can knock out AC (home/Level 2) charging, leaving the truck Supercharger-only until it's replaced. In August 2026 Tesla acknowledged the defect and extended PCS coverage on 2024–2025 trucks to 8 years / 150,000 miles (2026 builds carry a redesigned PCS, covered 7 years / 70,000 miles). Owners who already paid out of pocket were told reimbursement is coming; Tesla has covered Supercharging while replacement parts clear backorder.

Surface rust / orange spotting on stainless panels

Widely reported orange corrosion spots on the bare stainless from rail dust and environmental fallout. Generally cosmetic (Tesla advises cleaning/detailing rather than panel replacement) but a common owner complaint.

Uneven panel gaps, loose trim & rattles

Early builds in particular show uneven door/tailgate/body gaps, loose or rattling interior trim, and inconsistent fit. Handled case-by-case with service adjustments: fit-and-finish, not a safety defect. (Note: certain adhesive exterior trim pieces escalated to formal recalls, listed above.)

Water ingress around doors / tonneau

Owners report water entering around the doors or under the tonneau cover in heavy rain or at car washes, pointing to weather-seal gaps on some trucks. Addressed under warranty.
