Tesla's order page still says September. Every window we track says later.

One day after publication, the pattern broke back the other way: our own tracked order — which this report records at October 9 – November 13 — pulled forward to September 18 – 30, still with no VIN. That makes it the new earliest window on record and puts one September window back on the board; the other three windows are unchanged. It cuts both ways and we publish it the moment it happens: windows remain provisional in either direction until a VIN lands. The original report below stands as written on September 7.

Later the same day, a fifth window arrived through the report form on our Model Y L page: a second order, also placed July 2, reporting the identical December 1 – January 31 window. So within one day the tracker gained a September window and a second December one — movement in both directions, from orders placed the same week.

Tesla's Model Y L order page has said the same thing since launch week: Deliveries Begin in September. As we publish, that line is still there, and September has three weeks left. Here is what the rest of the record says: not one Model Y L has ever appeared in Tesla's US inventory — we have checked every day since July 4, including a full manual check of the entire national Model Y pool this weekend — and no delivery has been reported by any order holder we can find.

The launch got close. On September 4, the first VIN assignments were reported by order holders on Tesla Motors Club and r/ModelYL. A VIN is the step right before a delivery appointment. Then: silence. Three days, no delivery reports, and the order we track on this platform — placed July 2, the day orders opened — still has no VIN.

Our tracker holds four delivery windows reported directly by order holders, each reviewed before it counts. All four now open in October or later: October 2 – November 13, October 9 – November 13, November 8 – December 20, and December 1 – January 31. Not one September window is left.

The last one is the story. That order — placed July 2, opening day — had pulled forward twice in late August and briefly held the earliest window on record: September 12 – 30. This weekend its holder reported the new window, and it did not slip by days. It slipped past the entire quarter, to December 1 – January 31. Through August, windows on this page moved in both directions, sometimes on the same order in a single week. Since September began, every move we have recorded has gone one way: later.

The window movement does not stand alone. Tesla invited order holders to a Gigafactory Texas delivery event for September 25–27 — if September deliveries happen at all, that event is now the only date left on the calendar that fits. And owner-community coverage has turned: the same creator channel that reported the September 4 VIN assignments now reports deliveries delayed into 2027.

One counter-signal is worth naming: the car itself is finished. Official EPA range ratings landed September 2 — at 332 miles, above Tesla's own original estimate — so certification is not the holdup. Why the queue is not moving is something Tesla has not said, and we will not guess; the windows are simply where the evidence is.

Three tells, in order. The Gigafactory Texas event on September 25–27: if it happens and cars change hands, September survives, barely. A VIN on our own tracked order: VINs land in waves, and ours is the canary for the ordinary middle of the queue. And the window set itself: every holder report lands on this page with its history preserved, so the next move — either direction — will be on the record the day it happens. If your own window still says September, it is worth re-checking your Tesla account.
